Alone Star’ by The Vaccines – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★

The Vaccines are back with a new cheerful indie single called ‘Alone Star’. The song is a must-listen for everyone who likes upbeat guitar rock combined with quirky noises. It also serves as a preview of the band’s next album, ‘Back In Love City,’ which will come out on September 10th.

‘Alone Star’ follows a similar route to their past singles. Yet, the band manage to reinvent themselves in a way unlike anything else on the current indie chart. Furthermore, the group has been working on covers while under lockdown and appear to have taken influence. They slam it down with ease, demonstrating why they are as relevant now as they were when first coming out with, ‘How Did The Vaccines Make You Feel?’.

Robust Flavour

This new track starts with a western-sounding guitar lead that will appeal to fans of bluesy guitar bars. The riff has a robust flavour, and it blends in perfectly with a forceful drum rhythm. Justin Young, the band’s frontman, then leaps to the microphone and delivers his distinctive feel-good vocal. He engrosses us as he tells his narrative.

The music video is as compelling as the music, with Justin saying: “We wanted the ‘Alone Star’ video to be one of hope, capturing the moment when you realise all is not lost. Anyone that has driven through the desert to Las Vegas will know about the roadside casinos that start popping up and lighting the freeways as you arrive into Nevada.”
