‘Part Of The Band’ by The 1975 – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆

The 1975 are back, much to the surprise of their fans, and with their new single, ‘Part Of The Band’, they are back stronger and better than ever before. The British four-piece, arguably, one of the most prominent indie-pop bands of the last decade, get back to business, and they do so with flying colours!

The song ‘Part Of The Band’ will be on their next studio album, ‘Being Funny In A Foreign Language’, due in October of 2022. It is clear from the outset that the band have grown and matured both musically and personally. It is witnessed by the arrival of a new style that ushers in a new era for the band, which saw explosive growth in 2013 when they released their debut album.

Beauty

This fresh delivery exudes pure beauty. Also, the utilisation of string arrangements amplifies the range of feelings we experience as the music develops. It has a texture that is so passionate that it pierces the heart. Yet its atmosphere is so peaceful that it allows us to take a step back from the chaos of our time.

Frontman Matthew Healy takes a slightly different approach on this track. He ditches his signature pop vocal in favour of a more melodramatic style of lead. It probably helps since both of his parents are actors. In addition, he alters his method frequently, and his technique is almost unrecognisable compared to his earlier work.
