‘Melodyby Sigala – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆

Sigala, the DJ and record producer from Norwich, warms up the cold air with his new smash hit, ‘Melody’. Even though it’s still early in the year and there’s no sign of a heatwave, ‘Melody’ transports us to a sunny realm where only the most joyful sensations exist.

Many may argue that this track would have been more suited to being released in the summer due to its uplifting, warm texture. However, given its catchiness, it will come as no surprise to hear it still ringing out of boomboxes in the coming months. Sigala has a talent for creating earworms, and it appears that he has done so again with this performance.

The tune, an instant club crowd-pleaser. It starts strong, with the beat squeezing us into our seats and the vocalist, Ida Botten, demonstrating her high calibre with a vocal performance that rivals the finest in the game right now. When you first hear her, you might mistake her for Mabel. But, despite their similar styles, Ida brings a new edge to the forefront; she will most likely be creating a reputation for herself as the year unfolds.

The refrain of ‘Melody,’ like many other Sigala songs, has a catchy hook. It isn’t easy to get it out of one’s head once it concludes. Sigala has been using this strategy since his debut in the industry. Also, with each new track, he manages to make an even more significant effect, and this one is no exception.
