Sam Fender is back, and his new single, ‘Little Bull Of Blithe’, is one that we can’t stop listening to at the moment. The track is from the singer’s critically acclaimed album, ‘Seventeen Going Under (Deluxe)’, and it is a tribute to Sam’s grandmother, who sadly passed away while he was working on his album.
The title ‘Little Bull of Blithe’ comes from a nickname his grandmother gave him after he would often “rush through the door like a bull in a china shop.” It is a poignant story, and the words resonate instantly! Fender also demonstrates that he is not just a powerful singer but a highly captivating storyteller and wordsmith, and he delivers his wordplay with emotion that touches.
The music also matches the sentiment of Sam’s narrative and takes a detour away from the indie-rock edge that is audible on several of the other tracks on the album. Instead, it settles comfortably into the indie-folk genre; however, this is not unusual given that Sam often does stray into the folk realms with his music.
One of the great things about this track, as with many of Sam’s other new releases, is that it proves that he is not afraid to fully let himself go, putting his heart and soul into everything he does.
