‘Right On Time’ by Metronomy – Single Rating: 3/5 ★★★☆☆

Metronomy, the English indie-electronic band, welcomes us back into their universe with their new single, ‘Right On Time’, from their new album, ‘Small World.’

The group, who have been gracing the stage since 1999, manage to refresh their sound somewhat here, albeit only a little, as well as combining the mix with their characteristic electronic hooks that propelled them to popularity over a decade ago! They still have strong enthusiasm for music creation, as evidenced by their new music delivery, and they do not fail to grab our attention! But, the energy appears to be a little lost here; no sparks are flying out of the production; it simply feels like a continuation of what they accomplished previously.

Arguably, the band has never had a particularly electrifying sound, and they frequently remain rather noncontroversial in their music space. Their most famous song is definitely ‘The Look’. It is also likely their biggest earner to date and it is a more adventurous release for the group! As a result, it’s surprising that the band doesn’t explore a bit more here on ‘Right On Time’ given the success which surrounds them when they push the box a bit further! Nevertheless, what they do deliver will be medicine to the ears of all Metronomy fans!

Joseph Mount’s vocals are dreamy in texture, and he demonstrates his vocal ability with his multiple octaves stretching out with zeal! Also, the music complements Joseph’s captivating vocal tone.
