Papercuts’ by Machine Gun Kelly – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★

Machine Gun Kelly teams up with his best buddy Travis Barker to release ‘Papercuts,’ one of the most powerful new rock songs in recent memory.

It’s a FEARLESS track! An immediate anthem and MGK kills it, as one might anticipate considering his meteoric rise to the top of the punk rock music genre. He is a trailblazer with this new delivery, and he proves that he is not afraid to attempt something new.

Machine begins by plucking an acoustic guitar. It sounds like it has been sitting on the bedroom floor without a tune for a few months. Yet, there is no dissonance in the intonation, and MGK also takes a giant leap with a magnificent vocal performance. He’s as enthralling as ever, and his distinct timbre entices us like a young child to a candy bar.

The chorus is excellent, and the stadium-filling tune is incandescent, with a texture unlike anything else in the music scene right now. Also, Travis Barker’s mesmerising drum delivery is thundering. It provides a quality that even the most inexperienced music listener would quickly recognise as coming from one of the world’s most coveted drummers.

Many people claim that MGK and Travis are taking the genre forward and laying the path for the future; it would take a brave contrarian to disagree. Furthermore, the music they provide is enthralling, and they continue to improve with each new release.
