Jorja Smith is a pop force who smashes forward with her new release, ‘Addicted‘. The track is the first release of 2021 for Jorja, and she demonstrates her talent once again with ease.
Vocally, Smith is fresher than ever with a delivery which invites the listener in from the get-go. She sings with confidence, and her poise is evident as she progresses through her performance.
It starts with a gradual melody lead before Jorja opens up with a top-class singing performance. She sings with genuine emotion, and her heavenly tones glide through the airwaves with potency. Also, an edgy guitar riff paves the way forward with a Kings of Leon style timbre; it is a refreshing addition.
Addict
Jorja speaks with integrity about wishing that her lover was more addicted to her and that they should be more in tune with what she is doing. She claims that they are not obsessed with her at all. Instead, they are distracted by other things going on around them.
The music is not anything complex, but it still provides an exciting soundscape. Furthermore, many sounds leap out and a lot is going on in the mix, which keeps it exciting. However, the structure is a little bit orthodox; it keeps flowing predictably, but it does create an enjoyable listen.
Overall, Jorja Smith’s new release is a cleverly-written production that gets better with every listen. It is thought-provoking, and the wordplay from Jorja leaves an indent. It is also relatable to anybody who has given there all to someone without getting anything back in return.
