Jaden takes a nostalgic standpoint on his latest track ‘Rainbow Bap’.

The hit kicks off with a guitar lead which sounds very similar to a gently plucked harp. A beat then jumps out at us in a backbeat rhythm, and it gets us tapping along from the get-go. We are then in with a sharp and contagious rap from the Californian sensation.

The message he delivers is thought-provoking. He expresses his experience of love, often outlining the struggles of a modern relationship. Cleverly, he uses words which look back at his life. Furthermore, he cites how he and his lover were 17, is he singing about a relationship from five years ago? It appears so. Also, Jaden boasts a quality which is piercing and his message resonates with his whimsical lyricism. Jaden, often switches up his style fusing contemporary rap with a more traditional vocal with him singing an elongated melody which picks at the heartstrings.

New Sounds

As the track progresses, we hear a variety of new sounds popping out. However, I was not expecting to find a hint of old school rock towards the latter with a bridge instrumental which sounds remarkably similar to ‘The Masterplan’ by Manchester rockers, Oasis. However, I cannot find any link between the artists and nobody else appears to have spotted it yet, but take a listen and see what you think.

For me, it is a refreshing hip hop gem with Jaden bringing a new angle to the forefront of the hip hop scene. He proves his ability to keep reinventing his sound, and he has delivered a track which proves sentimental with a contemporary hook looking through a nostalgic lens. Top work, Jaden.
