Guide
If you grew up in the 2000s and was a sucker for the alt-rock scene then chances are you would have come across New Found Glory. Thinking about it now, this American rock band was arguably the band of my skater days; yes, I skated in my youth, albeit badly! Well, that teen energy I once felt is back after hearing New Found Glory’s new song, “100%”, which is out now.
Song Analysis (100% Review)
“100%”, produced by Steve Evetts was released on the 30th of April via Pure Noise Records, and it is everything you would expect, yet more! It starts as it means to continue with fist-pumping drum hits, crunchy mouth-watering guitar hooks and potent bass tones. The energy gets more intense as the song plays, with singer Jordan Pundik proving that he is just as powerful as ever before! The song is in the key of D Major and has a pace of around 195 bpm, very fast and oozing zeal!
New Found Glory – “100%” Lyrics (100% Review)
Verse 1
Yeah
All the rage you sprinkle down off your safe and cozy beds
I think it’s time you get out
Share the hope you’re basking in
I won’t let good people down like that
These songs aren’t for awards, it’s how we take a breath
Pre-Chorus
Less talk
Take steps, then your truth will show
Chorus
Whether I’m at the top or whether I’m broken down
My word is cement, I’m gonna give you 100%
Whether we’re so in love or whether you’re falling out
My word is cement, I’m gonna give you 100%
Post-Chorus
100%
Verse 2
Oh
I feel the trauma creeping up
Face the mirror, my head erupts
But what is fiction? Irrational fear
Grasping air, I’ve got to let it go
Life will kick you down, be sure of that
But stand up, grab its throat
And yell “You’ve met your match”
Pre-Chorus
Less talk
Take steps, then your truth will show
Chorus
Whether I’m at the top or whether I’m broken down
My word is cement, I’m gonna give you 100%
Whether we’re so in love or whether you’re falling out
My word is cement, I’m gonna give you 100%
Bridge
Jump in
Just enjoy
Pre-Chorus
Ooh, less talk
Take steps, then your truth will show
Chorus
Whether I’m at the top or whether I’m broken down
My word is cement, I’m gonna give you 100%
Whether we’re so in love or whether you’re falling out
My word is cement, I’m gonna give you 100%
Whether we’re so in love or whether you’re falling out
My word is cement, I’m gonna give you 100%

Meaning (My Opinion) (100% Review)
The band delve into themes of resilience and personal integrity in “100%”. The repeated phrase “My word is cement” symbolizes the strength and unwavering commitment of Jordan, indicating a dedication to staying true to himself, no matter the circumstances. Whether facing personal challenges, feeling at the top, or experiencing moments of vulnerability, Jordan remains steadfast in his promise to give 100% to life. The lyrics suggest that authenticity, even when adversity is calling, is more valuable than external validation or awards. Jordan emphasizes that the true worth of his words and actions lies in the sincerity and effort behind them, rather than the outcomes they produce.
The second verse introduces the idea of grappling with inner turmoil and confronting the past. This is symbolized by the trauma “creeping up” and irrational fears. Yet, Jordan insists on breaking free from these struggles, asserting control over their life and emotions which come up. Also, the metaphor of life “kicking you down” yet finding the strength to rise again to me reinforces the song’s message of persistence.
