Monday’ by Imagine Dragons – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★

Imagine Dragons, the indie rock band, are hard to top when creating new anthems! ‘Monday’ does not disappoint us; what a delight!

‘Monday,’ a pathfinder with a futuristic soundtrack that draws into the band’s backlog while simultaneously paving a new road forward for the Las Vegas quartet is euphonic from the start. The track’s structure is refreshingly unique, with a synth melody and electronic hooks that frequently sound like they’re playing backwards.

Dan’s voice is riveting as he experiments with his vocal register, taking his delivery to a new level of sophistication. His voice grabs the listener’s attention, and his storey drives the music deep into the cerebral cortex. He employs a different approach here, and while there are echoes of his past work, he reinvents himself with a new performance.

Another positive characteristic of this song is that it has lots of new indie edge. So much so, it will deter doubters from accusing the band of selling out and becoming too mainstream to be ‘cool.’ As a result, this new release will most likely pull in a new line of admirers while also pleasing the groups earlier listeners.

‘Monday’ is from the band’s latest album, “Mercury – Act 1,” which came out on September 3rd. It’s one of the many gems on the new album, and it has all the ingredients to become one of the group’s biggest and most memorable songs.
