Corey Taylor brings ROCK back to the forefront of new music with his latest release ‘Halfway Down’.

Here the Slipknot vocalist pushes through the sludge with a noise which will have you gripping on for dear life. His nail-biting approach to music has never sounded quite as potent with thunderous guitar riffs driving the track forward and a vocal which will have you frothing from the mouth.

Kicking off, we hear Corey get straight to the melting point with him singing with pure conviction. As you would expect from the rocker, he does not mince his words with him catapulting forward instantly. His vocal comes with a rock fundamental which many of us including myself fall for time and time again. However, he also delves into a new space with a rocky country aura popping out too, especially in the chorus section.

Sharp

Musically, ‘Halfway Down’ fires like a bullet. Furthermore, the guitar is super sleek with a mesmerising overdrive which will have you reaching for the air guitar in little time. Also, the melody line leaves a long-lasting indent with a catchy texture with it gliding through the airwaves with resilience. As the track progresses, the mix becomes even more potent with a guitar solo appearing towards the latter; it could cut through the glass it is that sharp!

Vocally, Corey is a breath of fresh air. Especially given the number of rock tracks I hear these days with a similar sound. However, Corey leverages his distinct quality, and he justifies why he is one of the greatest rock stars to grace the planet.
