‘Live From The Jam House’ by Thomas Atlas – Album Rating: 5/5 ★★★

Thomas Atlas, the musician from Birmingham who specialises in funk, has just released a new album, ‘Live From The Jam House’. It invigorates our sense of funky. Jools Holland, a legendary figure in the world of music, was responsible for opening The Jam House, where Atlas recorded all ten tracks on this record.

Atlas kicks things off with his most popular hit to this point, ‘Juice’, which satisfies our appetite for funk music by providing us with zest. Thomas smashes through his track with passion. Also, he gets the event started grandly, contributing to the apparent magnanimity between him and the audience. The recording also captures the background rumblings of amazement that is present in the audience.

The song ‘The Way It Is’, which comes around halfway through the album, has us moving our bodies as if there is no tomorrow. All the performers rise to the situation with power. Also, the bass grooves are infectious, while the trumpets bring a new edge to the forefront. A few songs later, ‘Healer’ is played, and it fills the space surrounding us with an overwhelming sense of serenity.

Overall, when it comes to live albums, this one by Atlas has to be up there with not just one of the most refreshing. But, also one of the most fascinating too! It has energy seeping out of its every pore!
