Marcus Mumford, the lead singer of Mumford & Sons, demonstrates once again with his latest solo effort, ‘Grace,’ that he is of the highest calibre. This song is from his upcoming highly anticipated debut solo album, ‘Self-Titled’, and it will be out on September 16th.
Mumford seamlessly emerges from the scene, and he stands out with genuine confidence; this is something we cannot ignore as he grips us to his every word. The singer-songwriter is empathetic in his delivery and he holds nothing back with his performance. Moreover, he takes us on an expedition by speaking about the events in his life. It brings a profound sense of catharsis to the forefront of the encounter.
The music is just as captivating as the vocals, and an indie-folk vibe paves the way forward. Cleverly and refreshing though, it veers off the beaten path structurally. Furthermore, the concluding section has a distinctive flow with many different vibe shifts and variations. The guitar gets the opportunity to explore the space it occupies, and a piano melody arrives to bring even more flavour to the interaction. Also, vocally, Marcus demonstrates the versatility of his voice by frequently elongating his notes, and as a result, he makes the goosebumps on the back of the neck rise in a frenzy!
