Little Mix release fresh new track ‘Not A Pop Song’ and it is everything which you would come to expect from the global sensations. But, I hate to break it to you all, it IS A POP SONG!
It all kicks off with a guitar which strums away, I think this is the closest the track gets from not being a commercial pop hit, it delves more into a rocky space. Nevertheless, no matter what Little Mix do, they will always come back to pop. It is just in their makeup, it runs through their veins, and why change it?
Style
Vocally, all members rise to the occasion with style. They sound delightful, and the tone is out of this world with their confidence dripping all over the mix. Also, the track becomes anthemic very quickly with the chorus shining with colossal effect. So much so, all of the girls leap forward and echo out their leading hook with charisma.
Another vital component of this track is the musical foundation. It comes just that little bit different, and it does have an edgier side to it which I relish. Also, it takes on a new direction at times. However, we do hear the bands signature sound popping to the forefront of the mix at times, especially within the chorus sections.
Lyrically, I am in awe. Furthermore, the girls express a story through riddles, and I enjoy how they talk about a myriad of topics to get their message across, that message being that they are not a group of puppets.
