James Bay is one of the most refreshing singers of recent times. He has taken the world by storm over the last few years since his debut release ‘Hold Back The River’ back in 2014, wow where did that time go? Also, his latest releases prove his versatility as a musician.

So much so, the singer has recently covered two of the biggest indie tracks of all time. Furthermore, for the ‘Apple Music at Home Session’ series, James has covered ‘Trouble’ by Coldplay and ‘Don’t Look Back In Anger’ by Oasis.

But, ironically and quite surprisingly given these new covers, James was never a fan of the indie megastars when he was growing up. Speaking about the revelation, he said: “It’s funny, I didn’t really like Oasis or Coldplay as a kid. I picked up a guitar at 11 years old and wanted to be The Rolling Stones, Clapton, Hendrix. But as I got deeper and deeper into songwriting and studying great songs, I came to love Oasis, Coldplay and more great modern songwriters.

“I totally fell in love with the music. So much so that I now sit and play their songs to myself on guitar, that’s why I chose them, they’re just so timeless and brilliant.”

Well, we are glad that he did eventually fall for the groups because his covers of their hits are impeccable. They give a new dimension to their sound, and it is awe-inspiring to hear James’ angle.

However, it is not the first time James has performed ‘Noel Gallaghers’ hit. Furthermore, he awkwardly had to play it in front of Noel himself at BBC Radio 2. You can check it out below.

Awkward But Brilliant
