‘Taking Me Back’ by Jack White – Single Rating: 5/5 ★★★★★
With his latest offering, ‘Taking Me Back,’ Jack White fills the speakers with omnipotent force. White’s enthusiasm is as daring as ever, and rock & roll hasn’t sounded this terrific in a long time!
The new song from Jack has been making waves alongside the trailer for the next Call Of Duty: Vanguard game, which will come out in November. However, sources claim that Jack did not write the song for the hit game, but rather that it just happened to fit in like a glove.
Leaving his fans dangling for three years, ‘Taking Me Back’ is the first solo track from Jack since his ‘Boarding House Reach’ album in 2018′. It is as potent as ever before hence the five-star review given here. He gives us the fist-pumping riff-rock, which many of us have been crying out for in quite some time. It is thunderous, and all elements of the mix stand out with zeal!
Jack’s voice has a grit to it that keeps us clinging to every note. The snare drum is also a highlight of the track. Furthermore, it has a great tone and it will appeal to drummers and mixing engineers all over the world. So much so, we will award you a gold star if you can find a tune with a more vigorous sounding snare sound.
