Are you fancying a bit of fresh electronic pop today? If so, we have you covered with the new single ‘Washed Up’ by Cheat Codes.

Kicking off with their signature sound thriving, Cheat Codes unleash a vocal which will have you quenched from the get-go. Furthermore, their new hit ‘Washed Up’ captures a soundscape which is not only exhilarating but unique in its own right.

Lyrically, they sing about a time before COVID with their words echoing out about a world which is unfamiliar in the current times. Moreover, they kick off with the vocal line, ‘If you had to wear a coat to the club, Cause you know we’d have to wait in the line, I couldn’t get you straight to the front, Would you wanna be seen by my side?

Trevor Dahl

Vocally, Trevor Dahl captivates with a soothing vocal lead which takes us to a peaceful realm of tranquillity. Also, his angelic quality carries us towards the chorus with vigour. Additionally, in the chorus, the hook fastens itself to the mix like an adhesive and the melody proves contagious with a catchy arrangement cementing itself deeply.

As the track progresses, we hear a myriad of new electronic sounds leaping out. For me, I relish how the group bring a beach aura to the track which matches the song title impeccably. However, should this have been a track which arrived pre covid and before winter? I would say so because it does not resonate too much in the current times, but the quality is difficult to resist. Also, it does remind of us a pre-covid planet.
