Little Big Man‘ by Wretch 32 – Album Rating: 4/5 ★★★★

British rapper and songwriter, Wretch 32 smashes through 2021 hip hop with his new nine-track record, ‘Little Big Man‘.

The album sees Wretch 32 team up with some of the most prominent names in the game, including Tiggs Da Author, KayyKayy and Blade Brown.

It kicks off with ‘The Beginning‘, and this short number paves the way forward for the entire album. Furthermore, we hear many voices talking in the background with a subtle synth foundation that adds to the soundscape.

After one minute, the album heads into ‘On My Life‘, and the synth we heard in the overture takes the limelight; Wretch 32 rises to the occasion with tenacity. So much so, he proves to be red-hot vocally, and he bolsters his name deeper with his opening rap performance.

Potent

Take Care Of Me‘ features Tiggs Da Author, and it stands out as one of the most potent tracks on the album. Moreover, the London grime aura rises out of the compound; akin to what we have heard previously on Wretch 32’s backlog. Similarly, heaps of emotion drips from the mix, leaving us gripping onto every note.

Anxiety‘ featuring KayyKayy kicks with a harrowing sentiment with an arpeggiated synth lead leaping with vigour. It is a hook that lasts for the entirety and it lodges itself deep into the soul alongside a mesmerising rap delivery from both Wretch and KayyKayy.

The album concludes with ‘The Endz‘. Like the introduction in length, it completes the record seamlessly, with the conversation heard earlier in the record coming to a close but this time with more emphasis on ending knife crime.
