Guide
Sarah Louise, the UK country artist and singer-songwriter stopped by for a chat!
1. Hello, Sarah. What inspired you to release “Simply the Best” and “It’s Over Now” so close together, and how do they reflect different relationship phases?
I didn’t actually plan to release them so close, but life has a funny way of lining things up just right. Simply the Best captures the kind of love we all hope to find; muplifting, supportive, and rare. It’s Over Now is the other side of that coin, the heartbreak, the acceptance, and ultimately the freedom that comes when you realise something isn’t meant to last. Together, they tell a fuller story of love and loss, the highs and the healing.
2. “Simply the Best” is a country reimagining of a classic. How did you honor the original while making it your own?
That song is iconic, so I approached it with a lot of respect. But I wanted to slow it down, strip it back, and lean into the emotion behind the lyrics. Give it that raw, country storytelling feel. I think the original has this powerful energy, and I wanted to channel that power into something tender and intimate. It’s my way of saying, this is what it feels like when someone really sees you.
3. “It’s Over Now” is a deeply personal song about a relationship ending. How did you approach writing such an intimate track?
Writing It’s Over Now was actually part of my healing. I was coming out of a long term relationship and had so many mixed emotions; sadness, clarity, relief. I didn’t try to polish the words too much; I just let them be honest. The process was emotional but cathartic. Music helps me make sense of what my heart’s been through, and I think a lot of people will relate to that moment when you finally accept the end and start to move forward.
4. Releasing “Simply the Best” on your birthday is special. How does this release tie into your personal life, and what message do you hope to send to your supporters?
Honestly, releasing it on my birthday felt symbolic, like a love letter to myself and to anyone who’s still believing in real love. It’s been a year of big changes, and this song is a reminder of what we deserve. I wanted it to be a celebration, not just of my birthday, but of growth, strength, and the kind of love that lifts you up. I hope listeners feel seen and empowered when they hear it.
5. How do you balance creating original songs with reimagining covers, and what can fans expect from your 2025 album?
I love doing both. Covers let me honour the music that shaped me, while originals help me tell my own story. That balance keeps things creatively exciting and fresh. This year, I’m actually releasing two albums; Lost in Country, which is a covers album where I reimagine iconic songs through a country lens, and a second original album that I’ll be revealing soon. It’s full of real, honest stories about love, change, resilience, and starting over. Fans can expect a mix of acoustic warmth and Nashville edge, and every song will come from something I’ve truly lived.
