Pale Waves release cover of Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’

It’s November and yes, it is still too early for Christmas songs but we are making an exception for this glorious cover by Pale Waves.

A take on the George Michael classic, the band bring their own moody, brooding twist to the song which makes it super-acceptable festive listening.

The Manchester band transform the track into a whole new sound that you could easily believe that they had written it themselves, if you’d been living under a rock and never heard the song before.

Formed in 2014, the bands debut album ‘My Mind Makes Noise’ was released in September this year, and talking with NME the band revealed they are working on a new EP which will have a more rock n roll sound, a contrast to their statement goth-rock sound, and it will focus on subjects like politics and sexuality – we can’t wait to hear it!  They are indeed a band to watch as all the tracks from their album are equally dreamy and punctuated with stunning musicianship and solid lyrically.

The Christmas track is available on Spotify and comes from a playlist titled ‘Spotify Singles – Christmas’ which features tracks from George Ezra, Paloma Faith and more – the perfect alternative to that Christmas CD you have from 1998.
