Olly E, the alt-rock singer from Leicestershire, is forging the road forward with his new release ‘Rise Above’. He stopped by for a chat.

Colby: What do you enjoy most about being a musician?

Olly E: Watching the reactions of people who hear my new songs for the first time as you never know what to expect!

Colby: Which track of yours means the most to you?

Olly E: From a mental standpoint, ‘For You’, as it has helped people suffering from mental health problems and I really wore my heart on my sleeve writing that one.

Colby: The first-ever gig you played can you remember it? How was it?

Olly E: My first ever gig took place when I was 12 at a battle of the band’s concert. Before the competition started the organiser put together a selection of Guitar soloists who each took turn performing for a few minutes. I played a rendition of American Idiot. I remember being nervous before going on stage but once I was out there it felt amazing!

Colby: What do you think is the key to success as a musician?

Olly E: Patience and commitment. You have to hang in there and believe in your abilities.

Colby: If you weren’t a musician, what job would you be doing?

Olly E: Probably something creative; an artist maybe.
