Heavy metal superstars Metallica have announced details of a huge European tour on its way in summer 2019. The “WorldWired” stadium tour will see the band continuing to celebrate their 2016 knockout album Hardwired…To Self-Destruct.

Taking to their website back in May the band wrote:

“WOW! As another amazing run of European shows comes to an end, we are a little speechless (when does that happen?) and stunned by the overwhelming response and outpouring of love you have all shown us!

“After 39 shows in 29 cities in front of 650,000 of you crazy die-hard ‘Tallica fans, we’ll be packing up our gear and heading home for the summer.

Along the way, you helped us break attendance records across the continent 29 times, sometimes breaking the record from show number one in a venue just two days later with the second show! It is staggering to us that all of this is still happening after 37 years as a band, and we could not be more honoured.

Lucky for us, we’ll be back! Look for info here in September about our return in May of 2019 for a run of stadiums through August. And already we cannot wait! Until then, THANK YOU!!”

That teased info has now been released (fist pumps the air like the final moment of The Breakfast Club). Metallica will be coming to the UK for shows in Manchester on June 18 at the Etihad Stadium and London’s Twickenham Stadium on June 20.

Joining the American metal band will be Swedish rockers Ghost and punky Norwegians Bokassa and together they’ll be blessing the stages of 20 countries. General admission tickets will go on sale September 28 at 10:00 or if you’re lucky enough to be part of their fan club you can get early access tickets September 25.

Keep up to date with the latest Metallica news here or on the band’s website, where a full list of tour dates can also be found.
