Maya Henry, the former fiancée of Liam Payne, has revealed in a startling Rolling Stone article the hardships that caused their breakup back in 2021. The model who is 23, detailed the emotional toll the One Direction singer’s drug misuse took on their relationship and she said that it was a major factor in their split following three years as a couple.
Drug Use
“Initially, it was the drug use and addictions that tore us apart,” Henry shared with the publication.
“Anyone who has been with an addict understands how difficult that is. While I loved him deeply, he did things that hurt me in ways I’ll never fully understand, and he continued to hurt me years after we broke up.”
According to a source close to the matter, Maya didn’t know the seriousness of Payne’s addiction issues until just before their split.
“It was normal for Liam to do cocaine, ketamine, MDMA, and pharmaceutical pills,” the source disclosed. “Then he got into smoking heroin.”
Personal Demons
Maya acknowledged that Payne had long struggled with personal demons, ones that he found difficult to confront even within their relationship.
“I knew there were parts of himself he was struggling with,” she said. “Parts of his identity he wasn’t ready to fully face, even within our relationship.”
He discovered the gem when he was 12 years old and still has it now, claiming it to be why he fell in love with music. He likes to play disc golf when he's not writing about music. He is a one-of-a-kind individual who is always the first to bust out his air guitar on the dance-floor.
