TRNSMT organisers have announced Liam Gallagher will headline the festival in 2018.

His performance at Glasgow Green on Saturday 30 June will be his biggest solo show in Scotland next year.

TRNSMT 2018 is Scotland’s biggest music festival and the first four acts on the bill have just been confirmed.

Besides the former Oasis frontman, the other acts include Courteeners, Wolf Alice and J Hus, with more artists to be announced soon.

TRNSMT organisers, DF Concerts, announced that the festival will run over three days, from 29 June – 1 July, as well as two events on 6 and 8 July.

They stated: “We’re absolutely thrilled to announce TRNSMT 2018’s line-up – all four bands are testament to the brilliant British music scene right now and will offer an amazing day of music for TRNSMT fans on 30 June. It is set to be a brilliant summer of music… We are bringing some of the best world-class artists to Glasgow Green, with many more exciting announcements still to come. TRNSMT’s outstanding audience in July this year showed the world why TRNSMT should be central to the festival music calendar.”

Oasis fans are delighted about the news of Gallagher’s return to Glasgow, although the singer was mobbed when he was back in the city last month to film his new video at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut – the venue where Oasis were discovered.

He is likely to play tracks from his new and acclaimed solo album “As you were” in addition to some of the Oasis classics.

Presale begins at 9am on Wednesday November 29.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Friday December 1.
