Justin Bieber was thrown into more controversy when he a lawsuit was filed against him due to
similarities between his track “Sorry” and a song indie-pop singer Casey Dienel but it has recently
been dropped.
Bieber’s track was released on his album “Purpose” which debuted in October 2015 but Casey Dienel
felt that the song was too similar to her single “Ring the Bell’ which was released in 2014. Dienel was
suing the pop star as well as the people who worked on the song such as Skrillex and claimed they
lifted the main vocals riff from her track. The lawsuit was initially for a cash pay-out and for Bieber to
stop performing the song at Dienel’s request but now Bieber is free to keep his money and continue
performing the track.

Dienel has now filed to drop the lawsuit with reasons unknown why she has had a change of heart.
When the incident first occurred, she claimed she was forced to sue because Bieber’s team refused
to deal with the matter privately.
While the lawsuit was being put into place, Dienel said “I offered Bieber’s team an opportunity to
have a private dialogue about the infringement, but they refused to even acknowledge my claim,
despite the obviousness of the sample. Justin Bieber is the world’s biggest artist, and I’m sure that he
and his team will launch a full attack against me. But, in the end, I was left with no other option. I
believe I have an obligation to stand up for my music and art.”
When the controversy first surfaced, Dienel was very upset and angry, granted, which is why the
whole situation disappearing with no reason behind it has come as very suspicious due to posts and
comments made by the artist discussing the matter and showing her true emotions on the case.
