‘Pollyanna‘ by Green Day – Single Rating: 4/5 ★★★★
Green Day are red-hot as always with their new cheerful release, ‘Pollyanna‘. The track ricochets negativity with the group talking about the raptures of existence.
Punchy in the overture, the band do not hold back with their signature punk rock qualities leaking out of the mix. Also, the feel-good energy drips from every vocal hook and riff, with the band providing optimism with thought-provoking wordplay.
Billie Joe Armstrong
‘Everything Is Going To Be Alright‘ is the lyric that we all want to hear right about now; Billie Joe Armstrong hits home with prevalence. Vocally, he is on top form with his delicious harmonic tones rising the echelon once again. In addition, his innate ability to unleash catchy hooks time and time again proves evident with a melodic refrain that lodges itself deep into the soul.
Musically, the not so American idiots build on a sound they have become famous for globally; thus, they reveal a new direction while also keeping loyal to their roots. The drum rhythm from Tré Cool hits with omnipotence, and it synergises seamlessly with the guitar riffs, which cut through the mix sharper than the serpent’s tooth. Additionally, the bass line from Mike Dirnt rattles the speakers but for all the right reasons.
Overall, ‘Pollyanna‘ is the track we have been craving without consciously realising. Also, given the route, they will likely recruit a new line of Green Dayers here while also gratifying the ears of their loyal fanbase.
