Drake is taking over new music Friday with his latest single ‘Toosie Slide’. For me, my Friday has just got heaps better. I have been spending my afternoon working through the hottest new music Friday releases and this one stuck out to me.
I have been a fan of Drake ever since I can probably remember. Therefore, I have to try and stay as neutral as I can with ‘Toosie Slide’. Is it his best? Well, it is not better than ‘God’s Plan’ put it that way. But, it is a solid track.
It kicks off with a vintage sounding synth before Drake opens up with his signature vocal. The beat follows a similar vibe to his previous hits. On the whole, you are not going to hear anything out of the norm here. The track brings nothing which we have not already heard before. But, why change something which so many people love?

It is all about slick moves this song. The video also follows the same theme. Today, we got a peek of the official vid, which shows Drake in his home town of Toronto during the COVID-19 self-isolation period. In the official footage, the rapper dances around in a face mask covering his face from the virus. It also shows the empty streets due to global pandemic.
I always find myself playing Drake’s new songs on repeat. I do not know how he does it, but he has managed it again. Overall, it is a quality track. It is not in the same league as ‘Passion Fruit’ and ‘God’s Plan’, but yet it still deserves appreciation.
