Drake responds to cancel culture

As Drake came on stage at the festival on Sunday, audience members booed. Ultimately, the Toronto rapper even cut his set short by 20 minutes in humiliation. In addition, audience members chanted ‘We want Frank’, calling for Frank Ocean. Rumours surfaced on social media for Frank Ocean to be the surprise headline act at the weekend. However, he did not make an appearance.

Drakes Response

Drake chose to post his response on social media. Drake blatantly states in an Instagram caption ‘Plot twist…just signed a 10 year residency at Camp Flog Gnaw sorry kids see you EVERY SINGLE YEAR till you are 30.’

The Instagram post includes some behind the scenes photos of Drake at the festival, for instance a photo with Odd Future member Taco.

Not to mention, the comical post also has a number of comments from fellow celebrities. With comments from the likes of Kendall Jenner and 2 Chainz.

Tyler The Creator

Camp Flog Gnaw is a festival ran by rapper Tyler The Creator. The festival started in 2012 and runs annually. Tyler books the festival himself, creating a unique line up year after year. For instance, the line-up also saw performances from Solange, 21 Savage and Brockhampton.

In addition, Tyler also responded online to the negative audience reaction. The rapper tweeted “I thought bringing one of the biggest artists on the planet to a music festival was fire.”

He ridiculed the boo-ers, calling them ‘trash’. He likened the behaviour to ‘mob mentality’ and ‘cancel culture in real life’ in a number of NSFW tweets on Monday. Therefore, supporting Drake’s performance.
