‘Fragments’ by Bonobo – Album Rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆

The latest and critically acclaimed album, ‘Fragments’ by Bonobo, takes us on a journey this week. The electronic DJ experiments musically here, merging various sounds and styles into one; don’t miss it!

The music creator, who was born in Brighton and now lives in Los Angeles, is hardly a newcomer to the game. Still, his popularity has recently soared to new heights, with this record rocketing up the album chart in fast succession after its initial release on January 14th.

The album opens with ‘Polyghost,’ a terrific way to get into Bonobo’s world for new listeners. It’s a celestial jewel, with a calm instrumental preparing the way for the next track, ‘Shadows.’ ‘Shadows,’ featuring Jordan Rakei, transports us to another world. It has an incandescent aura with clap beat rhythms, arpeggiated synth leads, and a vocal that could melt butter.

After five tracks, we reach ‘Tides,’ which features Jamila Woods. The seventh single, ‘From You,’ pulls at the heartstrings with a melody that is not only catchy but also deeply indenting. This tune takes a step back. Also, if you aren’t already down on the floor thanks to Bonobo’s chilled production, you will be soon.

‘Day By Day,’ featuring Kadhja Bonet, brings the album to a close after twelve tracks. The vocals hit home with Kadhja serenading with her enchanting charisma, and it’s the ideal ending to the entrancing record.
