Anne-Marie is no stranger when it comes to a pop smash it. She somehow manages to keep on pushing out hit and hit. ‘Her’ is no exception. Although, it does take a different route compared to her other most recent releases.

Furthermore, Anne-Marie is usually known for releasing dancy party type tracks. But she also has a knack for creating more ballad types too, and this one falls into that category. ‘Her’ is full of passion, and I could almost feel the singers emotion here. Anne-Marie speaks vividly about her younger self, and the song appears to be bout her mother. Lyrically, she expresses how when she was younger, she was troublesome. As a result, she indicates how it must have hurt her mother to see the starlet as a horrible teenager. Well, I am sure that is all water under the bridge now.

Piano

The song is simplistic musically, but it works very well. I also, like this toned-down version of the ‘Alarm’ singer a lot. As a result, I think she should do more of these type of tracks as it is up there with the greats like Emeli Sande. The piano heard throughout is soothing and leaves you in the sense of a calm dream. However, the piano section is not hugely unique, and it does sound very similar to Rihanna’s track stay. There are various other elements in the song which seem similar to other artists too, at one point I thought it was Ellie Goulding on the vocals.

Nevertheless, this is a great track. It is emotive, and the emotion is fresh. You can listen to the new single below.
