20 year old ZieZie, hailing from Croydon follows up with his second single ‘Sensei’ after his summer hit ‘Fine Girl’ via RCA Records UK.Having sold over 200,000 records with his debut Fine Girl, and with the video now sitting on over 12 million views on GRM Daily, ZieZie has spent the last year in the studio working with a plethora of artists and producers on his forthcoming debutproject. Collaborating with producers Diplo, iLL BLU, Levi Lennox, TSB, Diztortion & more, he’s successfully embedded himself as a forerunner into the UK Afrobeats & rap scene.
Now releasing Sensei, a song ZieZie professes was made as “an anthem calling on people to rise up and be their own boss…a vibe for guys and girls to get into”; the video depicts ZieZie’s creative side, setting him apart from the rest of the UK scene both sonically with his Congolese influence and Afrobeats fusion into UK rap and Pop, but also with striking visuals, capturing Zie’s natural playful personality and zest for differentiation.

Gaining support from the likes of WSTRN, who brought him on tour iLL BLU, collaborating on their smash Chop My Money, Lethal Bizzle acquiring him for the official Flex Remix with Mr Eazi & Movado & Krept & Konan who brought him out at their headline, sold out Alexandra Palace show to perform the latter, ZieZie is no doubt one of the most exciting prospects for 2019, transcending genre’s and defining new levels of success.

ABOUT ZIEZIE

ZieZie was given his nickname as a child growing up in the small town of Chessington, greater London. The Congolese name rhymes with “bye bye” and translates as “outgoing, loud, and in your face” according to 19-year-old, who is now based in south London. “ZieZie means someone who doesn’t know how to sit down,” he adds, summing up the vibe of his melodic and unforgettable music perfectly.
Pride in his Congolese heritage runs strongly through ZieZie and his music. He regularly uses the local language Lingala in his lyrics and the rhythms of Afrobeats and its modern, London-centric variants, are evident in breakout hit “Fine Girl.” The 2018 single has over 10m views on YouTube and is a song that begs for repeat plays. “When i was younger I mainly listened to pop music,” ZieZie says listing Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran as influences. “I was introduced to hip hop when I got older. The mix of the two is natural. “i’m versatile and not scared to try new things.”
Mature beyond his years and with a wealth of musical influences ranging from Drake and Lil Wayne to music from the French side of his family, ZieZie is confident in his ability to reach the top. “I don’t care about people’s opinion,” he says. “If I’m happy then I’m going to enjoy my life. I’m not here to add negativity to the world. I’ve got everything I’ve accomplished through hard work. I’ve been able to pay my mums bills, take my siblings shopping. It’s opened my horizons.” Ultimately, he wants to spread this message of positivity and independence to those listening to his music. “Wherever I go I show people you can be free. You don’t need to change yourself to fit in.”
