Zayn goes psychedelic in his new track ‘Better’. It is the first single I have reviewed from Zayn in some time, and it is one of the most exquisite releases from the former One Direction star.

Kicking off is a melodic guitar which comes with a warm texture. It sounds very angelic with its simplistic yet mesmerising tone. We then hear Zayn reach for the mic and he rises to the occasion with top-class vocal performance. Sitting behind his vocal is a chorus soaked guitar lead which adds a new flavour to the already flavoursome piece.

Deep

As the track progresses, the beat picks up pace and Zayn delves deeper into his vocal range and he rises to the surface with the jewels. He is one of the most gifted vocalists to grace the airwaves in recent times, and he leverages his talent here on this track. As a result, he often transitions between soft and hard techniques, and he regularly switches up his style.

The chorus is potent. Also, it comes with an infectous melody which is unforgivably catchy. It sounds very dissimilar to Zayn’s other material. Moreover, he sways into a new corner here with this delivery. I relish how he has evolved into a mature artist, and he has ditched behind the contemporary pop you may have come to expect from him back in his One Direction heyday.

Towards the latter, Zayn gradually places us back down on earth with a soft outro. Again, the guitar takes the focal point just like the opener, and it ends majestically.

Overall, I cannot get enough of this new track from Zayn. So much so, I will be keeping it close for quite some time. You can take a listen to ‘Better’ by Zayn below. Also, be sure to let us know your thoughts to the new release by commenting on our social media accounts.
