Colby: What Do You Enjoy Most About Being A Musician?

Tom: Playing live is the best part. There are rewards in terms of tangible growth, in terms of single releases, streaming numbers, photoshoots – but playing live in a busy room is unbeatable.

Colby: Which Track Of Yours Means The Most To You?

Tom: The track that means the most to me would be Call Me Over, as it was our first single back after lockdown and the first with Tim and Jake. It felt like alot had built to that release, and it marked a true turning point as a band.

Colby: The First-Ever Gig You Played, Can You Remember It? How Was It?

Tom: The first gig PARAFFIN officially played was at Acapulco in Southsea (Portsmouth). It was an unbelievable night, the gig sold over capacity and all our family and friends were there. A very important milestone for us, as it made it all very real all of a sudden, after 6 months of rehearsing as a band beforehand!

Colby: What Do You Think Is The Key To Success As A Musician?

Tom: Being proud of what you achieve and not getting caught up in the ‘bigger picture’, or comparing yourself to acts around you. We haven’t even nearly achieved all that we wish to as of yet as a band, and so I wouldn’t say we truly know what success is at this present moment in time. But we celebrate our milestones, and every gig we play or track we release is an achievement to an extent. The biggest success being that we got through the pandemic, when so many other bands sadly did not – there’s nothing that can hold us back now!

Colby: If You Wasn’t A Musician, What Job Would You Be Doing?

Tom: This isn’t a full time job for any of us, and we all have very busy lives outside of the band. This is our outlet, and we hope that one day we can realise of the reality of doing this full time.
