Mumford & Sons have announced the rescheduled dates for the four UK shows they had to postpone due to “unforeseen logistical and technical challenges”.
Last week the band made a statement where they described the Delta Tour as “by far the most ambitious show we’ve put together” and explained that they were forced to reschedule because of technical difficulties.
M&S started their tour in Dublin on November 16 to launch new album ‘Delta‘ and debuted a new stage they described as “ground-breaking”.
The band posted on their official Twitter account on November 19 explaining that they would reschedule dates in Liverpool, Cardiff, Sheffield and Manchester.
“It is with a really heavy heart that we have been forced to postpone four shows on this UK tour due to unforeseen technical and logistical challenges. As you may know, the Delta Tour is by far the most ambitious show we’ve put together and we have had to free up some space in the schedule to be able to execute it, given some obstacles that have come up in production. As we also hope you know by now, we never postpone shows lightly, in factit’s something we try to avoid at all costs – so this decision has been incredibly difficult to make, but in this case we have no other choice. The truth is that it is simply not humanly possible to play these particular shows at this time and we are sorry the reality of that only truly landed after we completed Belfast yesterday. We are therefore rescheduling our Liverpool, Cardiff, Sheffield and Manchester shows to 2019 & will share information on the new dates very soon. We are so sorry to need to do this, but we will see you soon. Love, the lads x “ — Mumford & Sons (@MumfordAndSons) November 19, 2018
Frontman Marcus Mumford said: “We hate letting people down. It’s been gutting to move them. There’s a lot of planning that goes in, travel, hotels and stuff, and it’s the last thing we wanted to do. But we’ve rescheduled the shows in June.”
Many fans responded angrily to their postponement announcement, with Twitter users writing “just use a regular stage”, “logistical and technical challenges are not a decent enough reason to waste people’s money”, “it’s totally unacceptable” and “the last-minute postponement is ‘pretty amateur”.
M&S have now confirmed the shows will go ahead in June 2019: “New dates for the 4 postponed UK shows are now confirmed for June 2019. We’re grateful for your patience. We really hope you can join us but if not, refunds will be available from point of purchase. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. M&S x — Mumford & Sons (@MumfordAndSons) November 21, 2018
The new dates in June 2019 are as follows:
2 – Liverpool, Echo Arena
4 – Sheffield, Fly DSA Arena
6 – Manchester, Manchester Arena
10 – Cardiff, Motorpoint Arena
Original tickets will be valid for the rescheduled dates; for those who may be unable to attend the rescheduled gigs, a full refund from the point of purchase will be offered.
