Content Guide
Post-rock band from Scotland, Mogwai emerge with their new song, “Lion Rumpus”. This track is everything we could have hoped for from the group which was founded back in 1995. Moreover, they smash through the industry barrier with vigour and leave us spellbound with their unique indie-rock qualities!
The Music
When it comes to Mogwai, you do not need huge vocal hooks because the music does the talking and that follows suit on “Lion Rumpus”. The track starts as it means to continue with a salient opener. Furthermore, the drums greet us initially before whirling synths echo around the mix alongside stadium-filling guitar tones. It is a track which perfectly follows their September 2024 release, “God Gets You Back” if you have not heard that yet, feast your ears below.
Instrumental Power
For anyone who is familiar with Mogwai, you will be accustomed to their unique approach to songwriting. Moreover, they concentrate on creating often lengthy guitar-driven instrumentals. They have mastered this style of music and they appear to get better with each new release. Also, they manage to convey a vast array of emotions through their pieces without laying down a single vocal melody; it is rather impressive!
New Album
The Scottish veterans are also planning to release a new album in January 2024 titled, “The Bad Fire”. It was produced by John Congleton, famous for his work on St. Vincent’s eponymous album. The album will also be the 11th studio album from the group who brought us tracks like “Take Me Somewhere Nice” and “Kids Will Be Skeletons”. If this track is anything to go by, then we are all in for a treat with their new album coming in early 2024.
