Singer, Kylie Minogue is allegedly thinking about suing Aldi After the leading supermarket chain closely mimicked her bestselling rosé. Launched in October, the retail behemoth’s Rosalie Cotes De Provence Rosé has a label that strikingly resembles Kylie’s popular blush wine, including almost exactly same cursive typeface.
Profitable Wine
Kylie started the profitable wine company selling more than 17 million bottles worldwide in 2020. Aldi’s new offering seems to be trying to profit from her popularity by pricing the bottle roughly 50 pence less, so undermining her. According to Kylie Wines’ staff, the imitation “peeved” them; legal action is under consideration.
Dead Ringer
Though supermarket giant Aldi has acknowledged that the bottle is a “dead ringer,” the analogy did not stop there. Moreover, one of just 424 Masters of Wine worldwide, renowned wine specialist Sam Caporn blind-tasted rosés and said that they were exactly the same in taste and colour. The nearly perfect match apparently startled Caporn so much that she double-checked her tasting notes.
The revelation has generated debate and it’s unclear whether Aldi’s copy-cat behaviour will cause legal trouble. However, Kylie’s wine drinkers are looking forward to the result of this highly regarded clash.
