DID YOU KNOW? Rudimental were given a writing credit on “Bloodstream” by Ed Sheeran which was taken from his second studio album “x”.
Rudimental are an English, London-based drum and bass band signed to Atlantic Records. The group consists of Piers Agget, Amie Amor, Kesi Dryden and DJ Locksmith. The group had known each from an early age with Dryden and Agget growing up on the same street and attending the same school. In late 2011, the group approached Amir Amor as a record producer and songwriter. This Initial collaboration resulted in the songs “Feel the Love”, “Not Giving In” and “Spoons”. He was then subsequently asked to join the group.
In February 2012, Rudimental released “Spoons”, featuring MNEK and Syron as the debut single from their debut studio album “Home”. Followed by lead single “Feel the Love”, released in May and featured vocals from John Newman, the song entered the UK Singles Chart at number one, making it their first number one single in the UK. This song was also a top-5 hit in Australia, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Belgium and also charted in Denmark, Germany, Ireland and Austria.
The group’s debut studio album was released on 29th April 2013 working with some of the UK’s finest talent, including the voice of 2012, Emeli Sande, the album’s mix of dubstep, R&B, house, and drum’n’bass it received positive reviews and debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, as well as being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize. Rudimental have won several awards including the Brit and Mobo Award for ‘Best Album’. They have also received nominations at the MTV Europe Music Awards for ‘Best New Act’, and ‘Best UK and Ireland Act’ and have achieved multiple platinum record sale certifications in several countries, including UK and Australia. In 2015 the collective scored another big hit with the Ed Sheehan collaboration “Bloodstream”, and geared up for the release of their second full-length album, “We the Generation”. This album included collaborations with Dizzee Rascal, Anne-Marie, MNEK, and others. The second Sheeran feature on the album, “Lay It All on Me”, became the group’s first US-charting song and their eighth UK To 40 track, it also went platinum in Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Italy and the UK.
