Jon Young is a Canadian actor who is best known for playing Nikola Tesla in the television drama Sanctuary, which airs on Syfy. He stopped by for a chat!

Colby: Hello, Jon. It is great to speak with you. To start with, how has your summer been thus far?

Jon: The Beach, Chill summer vibes, friends. What more is there? I’ve really been taking the time to enjoy the little things this summer and I’m loving it.

Colby: Let’s talk about your acting profession. It’s going from strength to strength. Has acting always been a dream of yours?

Jon: My original dream was to be a professional baseball player, but when my arm blew out, I shifted focus. I’ve always been a guy who enjoys performing on the big stage whether at the ballpark or on a literal stage. I never actually thought I’d pursue acting, but it totally makes sense for me. I set my goals high!

Colby: Your role as Brad Holland in HBO’s Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty made you a household name; what was it like to work on such a successful show?

Jon: I’m a household name to my friends and family and that’s good enough for me. It was a real honor being a part of such a prestigious show that helped me get my start. I’m so excited for all those guys and gals, and I’m wishing them all the success in the world going forward.

Colby:  You have a great deal of passion for your charitable work. Could you tell our readers a little bit about the charities you support?

Jon: My charity work started when I was 22 years old. I started a fundraiser to support the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research. It’s actually such a coincidence. A group that I’ve been working with recently had an opportunity to make a donation, and we literally contributed to the Jimmy V foundation last week! That’s 7 years after the original fundraiser! We’ve come full circle!
