As the calendar events across the world begin to fly by, we are now finding ourselves at the beginning of the Christmas frenzy. The halloween decorations are long gone, the last few post-bonfire night discount fireworks have been bought and lit, and the thanksgiving feast is right on our doorstep. Yet, apart from signalling the start to the Christmas period, this also signifies the end of the crazy two months of gig season. Thus, we must start to look ahead to the announcements of gigs in the new year, including the array of fine summer festivals awaiting us in 2019.
One of the first to get in on the act are the legendary Foo Fighters. After taking some time off since their 2017 record ‘Concrete and Gold’, the five-piece are hitting the road again in the new year, embarking on a European tour including two dates in Ireland. They will be kicking off their string of five dates in Croatia’s Pula Arena on June 19th before continuing to Horsens (Denmark), Bergen (Norway), Belfast (Northern Ireland) and Dublin (Republic of Ireland)
These five dates fit neatly leave room for Glastonbury weekend (28-30 June) and end just a few days before the start of Reading and Leeds festival sparking rumours that Foo Fighters could be set to return to the UK’s biggest stages with a couple of festival headline slots. Reading and Leeds will run between 23-25 August this year and the rumours are coming in fast of who will headline the weekend.
The festival’s first announcement is tomorrow and Foo Fighters are one of the favourites to play. Some of the other artists who are also odds on to play include Arctic Monkeys who did not appear last year despite their worldwide tour and The 1975 who will be releasing their new album at the end of this month. All we can do now is wait, and although it is not certain who will play this year’s event, we can be sure that 2019 will surely be an exciting time for Foo Fighters fans. Even if they do not appear at the biggest festivals it looks likely that they will have more big news coming very soon!
Pre-sale for the tour is available now using the code FFEURO19 whilst general sale begins on Friday November 23rd at 10am local time.
