Drama, glamour and family are all themes which appear in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ which was released in cinemas across the U.K. last week.

The biopic follows the journey of Queen and in particular Farrokh, more commonly known as the legend, Freddie Mercury.
Rami Malek portrays Mercury with vigour, intricacy and quite frankly, a whole load of sass. Throughout the film, we see the dynamic of the different relationships rise and fall but the one thing that is truly heartwarming is Mercury’s close relationship with Mary Austin.
Talking of relationships, we really get to see the loneliness that surrounded Mercury during certain times in his life, and the way that fame can consume you; from seeing Paul Prenter enter his life, right through to him seeking out Jim Hutton, it really is an emotional rollercoaster.
As you’d expect, the film is full of epic Queen songs and we even get to see Bohemian Rhapsody, the film’s namesake in its infancy and development stages – what a treat!
Family is what defines the band in the film and what brings them back together for Live Aid and as was said at the start of the film, they were people who didn’t belong, performing for the people who thought they didn’t belong, which perfectly sums up how people felt and still do feel about them.
The glamour and the drama surrounds Freddie Mercury like he is a magnet drawing it in. Totally and utterly fabulous and does not compromise for anyone.
We also need to talk about the costumes and casting, the team behind that are actual geniuses; from the mannerisms and nuances right through to the hair and a certain silver sequinned jumpsuit, you honestly forgot you weren’t watching the actual band.
Even if you aren’t the biggest queen fan, it’s worth a watch to see the support that surrounded them and the legacy that Freddie Mercury left behind, but I can promise you you’ll be blasting QUEEN in the car on your way home from the cinema.
