In a light and dreamy aura, the band Fickle Friends, touring again on the new album they released earlier in the year, ‘You Are Someone Else’, took to the stage in Cambridge on Saturday night, to lend a little frothy, summery vibe, despite the soon approaching colder months.  With pink neon signs and a palm tree laden stage, there was no mistaking that the effort here was to channel something fresh and vibrant.

On a headline tour through the month, the band are now playing some of their biggest venues to date after a very successful festival season.  Gliding through previously released tracks from older material in the setlist, the focus on the new album was definitely there.  Highlighting their release from earlier in the year, ‘Wake Me Up’ in the beginning of the set, the blended and balanced sounds from the keyboards, clever guitarwork and drums along with front woman Natti’s upper-register vocals created a lovely breeze to languish in.

It is an all-together refreshing sound that just bounces and washes over you.  Never dull or tiring, the arrangements are meant to tell the story, without being arduous or repetitive.  Their following is certainly growing with momentum and it was clear that the whole crowd knew the music completely as they sang back to Natti every single word.

The big finish was new single, ‘Swim’.  The track has a bit of escapism about it and a certain luminosity as it bounds along, not unlike the rest of their music.  The keyboards create a lush environment to find a happy place within. Their songs are textured yet not heavy so easy to find a place in. This is definitely a band to watch and get behind as well as on your playlist soon if it isn’t already!
