Critically acclaimed and fast-rising London duo Ferris & Sylvester have released their brand new single ‘Burning River’. The single was featured in Spotify’s ‘New Music Friday’ playlist and premiered with BBC Introducing as the ‘Upload Of The Week’ on Sarah Gosling’s show, which was followed by the duo’s second live session with the station this year.

Describing the duo Sarah said on the show, The crucial part of your charm and your appeal is that at all times, you feel some layer has been grated off you with your songs. You’re reaching out for things that you want, instead of doing what other people want you to do. That’s why you’ve made such strides in such a short amount of time – and there haven’t been enough artists courageous enough to do that.”

BBC Introducing have been huge supporters of Ferris & Sylvester over the past year. Due to Gosling’s support, the duo have announced a short run of free headline South West dates in November.

‘Burning River’ is the first taste of a brand new project from Ferris & Sylvester, a project inspired by writing trips to Iceland and its vast breath-taking landscapes and mesmeric weather patterns.

Produced by Michael Rendall (Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney, Echo & The Bunnymen), ‘Burning River’ pulls together Icelandic chants, captivating percussion, blues guitars and the pair’s unmistakable harmonies. The result finds Ferris & Sylvester expanding their sound into something that is both their most raw and heartfelt yet.

Regarding the single Ferris & Sylvester say, For us, this is our most exciting and personal release to date. ‘Burning River’ is our ode to Iceland. We’d only known each other for a few months, and it was there that we decided to really concentrate on making music together. We drove around the whole island, camping wherever we landed. We’ve been back every summer since and it has become a very powerful, creative place for us. With the help of the incredible producer and friend, Michael Rendall, we feel this song shows our growing journey as songwriters and is a taste of things to come.”

‘Burning River’ is the first new track to follow from the duo’s highly acclaimed Made In Streatham EP released earlier this year. Upon release the Made In Streatham EP topped the iTunes Singer-Songwriter Chart, clocked up millions of plays on Spotify and has been receiving great radio support from Radio 2, BBC 6Music and BBC Introducing. The stand out single ‘London’s Blues’ reached the Spotify UK Viral Chart Top 20.

Ferris & Sylvester are prolific names on the UK’s live scene and have played to thousands of people this year. They have played in support of the likes of Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, George Ezra, Tom Odell, Gary Barlow and James Blunt, while they have also played high profile festivals including BST Hyde Park and the main stage at Wilderness Festival among many others.

The band are currently on the road with Lucy Spraggan before they head off on their headline BBC Introducing tour. The band will also be playing with Trampled By Turtles, Welshly Arms and Jerron ‘Blind Boy’ Paxton in November. Full Ferris & Sylvester tour dates can be found below:
