In a recent interview on ‘CBS Sunday Morning,’ Ed Sheeran spoke candidly about the challenges of writing pop music. The singer/songwriter, who has achieved global success with hits like “Shape of You” and “Thinking Out Loud,” stated that he believes pop music is “more challenging” to write than any other form of music.
Sheeran, who has faced his fair share of negative reviews throughout his career, admitted that he used to care a lot about critics’ opinions. However, he has since come to accept that his music will never be universally adored. Despite this, he still feels that pop stars should be respected for their ability to create catchy, accessible tunes.
During the interview, Sheeran explained, “I think it’s more challenging to write pop music than any other kind of music. You’re trying to come up with something that everyone can sing along to and remember, and that’s not an easy thing to do.”
