Dua Lipa and Anwar Hadid are reportedly dating according to hundreds of news outlets around the world.
Call us cynical, but who really cares?
We agree that pop culture plays a big part of pop musicians careers but do we (Media and the public) get too involved in the personal lives of musicians?
Personally, I believe that we do. I think it should be more about the music and the talent in which the musician has to offer.
Yes, I am aware that we have written articles about celebrity feuds and relationships before but it just appears that everyone, including the media is more interested in Dua Lipas love life at the moment than they are with the fact that the singer will be releasing a new album very soon.
After all, the ‘One Kiss’ singer did recently reveal that she is working on a new album and that it will include another set of chart-smashing songs. Therefore, shouldn’t we be keeping tabs on the album progress and her live shows? As opposed to who she is smooching with at restaurants?
Nothing New
Nevertheless, this is nothing new. The industry has been like this for generations. Also some would argue that the personal lives of celebrities is what keeps them current and in the limelight and to some extent, that is true. However, it sometimes feels that main stream musicians these days are just famous personalities who occasionally drop a record.
Moreover, music should always take priority over artists personal lives. After all, that is why they are there in the first place.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think the media concentrates too heavily on celebrities personal lives? Is the music more important than who celebs are dating?
Have your say below. As always, we would love to hear your feedback on this one.
