Christie Reeves is a force to be reckoned with in the folk-pop arena, and she stopped by for a chat!

Colby: Hello, Christie. It’s a pleasure to speak with you. Let’s start with your new single, ‘Thaw’. What was the inspiration for the song?

Christie: The song ‘Thaw’ was inspired by, and came from, a feeling of guilt and feeling like I had lost touch with my values, as I was writing the song it helped me reflect on why this happened, which is what I love about writing – it’s’ basically a free therapy session.

Colby: So far, which of your songs have meant the most to you?

Christie: All of my songs feel so important to me as they encompass whatever I was feeling at the time – it’s a little bit like time travel whenever I listen to them! But at the moment ‘Thaw’ is definitely the one that I connect to most.

Colby: When did you realise you were destined to be a musician?

Christie: Well, no matter what path I took, I seemed to always be led to music. No matter what I was doing, if it wasn’t to do with my music, in my gut I felt like I was wasting my time, so I followed the music…and that feeling’s gone away! (But the dream of being a singer’s been alive since I was 3, looking back – is that weird??).

Colby: Who would you collaborate with if you could work with any artist, and why?

Christie: FleetFoxes/Robin Pecknold as the writing style is right up my alley! The almost medieval/mystical feel from the lyrics and music is beautiful, and well…who wouldn’t want to collab with them and get those harmonies down on a track??

Colby: What else do you have in store for 2022?

Christie: Secrets, lots of secrets…but one I can tell is that I have an exciting performance with my band coming up in a stunning church space in Lichfield on Friday 29th April where I will be singing unreleased songs too so I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be an exciting year, I’m looking forward to sharing more!
