Spotify have released their yearly review in the form of ‘Spotify Wrapped‘. This newly named feature allows users to see their most listened to songs of the year, and this time around their decade in review too. The 2010s has certainly been a big decade for music and streaming. With the way we listen to music taking a huge turn around globally.

Top of the Decade

The most streamed artist of the last 10 years was unsurprisingly, Drake. The Canadian rapper wracked up a total of over 28 BILLION streams this decade. His most popular song ‘One Dance’ was streamed 1.7 billion times alone.

However, the most streamed song of the decade was Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape Of You’ with a whopping total of 2.4 billion streams. Ed Sheeran also took the top spot for the most streamed artist of 2019 in the UK.

However, globally, Post Malone topped the charts for most streamed artist of 2019 with over 6.5 billion streams from fans worldwide. Post Malone’s song ‘Rockstar’ is the third most streamed song of the decade. His track ‘Sunflower’ with Swae Lee was also the third most streamed song globally this year. The single was from the soundtrack to the film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

The biggest album of the year globally was Billie Eilish’s debut ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ The 17 year old singer’s hit ‘Bad Guy’ comes in at the second most streamed song globally in 2019. Billie breaks records by being the first female artist to have her album top Spotify Wrapped most-streamed album category.

This years top song globally is ‘Senorita’ by Shawn Mendes and Camilla Cabello. This worldwide pop hit saw more than 1 billion streams from fans across the globe. This track also broke multiple Spotify streaming records, becoming the fastest song to surpass 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, and 900 million streams on the platform.
