Did You Know? Cardi B

 Cardi B Grammy Superstar

Did you know Cardi B is an American female rapper breaking boundaries in all the best of ways. In 2018 she won best new artist at the iHeartRadio music awards. She is as quirky as she is talented. Her rapping skills are a nod to when rappers took the time to write out music for the love of music and not just for the money.

Grammy fame

The bizarreness doesn’t just stop with Cardi’s personality. Her real name – Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar is worthy of a Grammy itself. Speaking of the Grammys, this year she was the first female rapper to win best album. A huge milestone in terms of female empowerment because Hip Hop  is such a male dominated category. She is undoubtedly a Grammy superstar.

Miss B is not afraid of making a statement and everyone was left open mouthed at her acceptance speech after she joked she had to start taking a certain substance in order to calm her nerves. She was born in the Highbridge area of the Bronx, New York to a Dominican father and Trinidadian mother.

When she collaborated with Bruno Mars to make smash hit “Finesse”, the song sold 30,000 copies in the first day and topping third on the charts in the first week. She later went on to perform with Maroon 5 in “Girls like you” to even greater success ascending to number one after six weeks at number two.

The future

However, Cardi B can only climb upwards from here. Because of her specialised way of wrapping and sweet accent, it makes her difficult to dislike and she will gain more followers in the years to come. She stays real and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Something refreshing to pop up in music for sure.
