‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ has been named as the most streamed song from the 20th Century. Released in 1975 the song has stood the test of time and grown in popularity with a younger audience as well as those who were around for its’ release.
The movie of the same name was released this year which undoubtedly has had an impact on the songs streaming success, with the movie bringing in over $600 million at the box office so far.
The top five most streamed songs from the 20th Century are:

2 – ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ by Nirvana
3 – Sweet Child Of Mine’ by Guns n Roses
4 – ‘November Rain’ by Guns n Roses
5 – ‘Take On Me’ by Aha
‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ has been streamed a massive 1.6 billon times across services like Youtube and Spotify as well as reaching number 1 in the UK chart twice; once upon release in 1975 and again following Freddie Mercury’s death in 1991.
In a statement alongside the news, Queen guitarist Brian May said; “So the river of rock music has metamorphosed into streams! Very happy that our music is still flowing to the max!” Lucian Grainge, CEO of Queen’s label Universal Music Group said it was an “incredible achievement that is a testament to the enduring brilliance of Queen”.
Arguably the most iconic Queen song, ‘Bohemian Rhapsody ‘ is a mammoth track almost six minutes in length and is taken from the album A Night at the Opera and of course lends its title to the recently released biopic, depicting the story of the band from conception through to success and also the life of Freddie Mercury.
The song has also been named the most streamed classic rock song of all time and the 11th most streamed song on Spotify.
