With the Migos’ being one of the biggest bands in hip hop and possibly the world, the culture has been eagerly awaiting the solo projects from each band member. First out the gate was Quavo with his album Quavo Huncho, released in October. It was then followed up by the release of Takeoff’s (short) LP The Last Rocket in November.
Now Offset has confirmed his solo album will drop December 14, on his 27th birthday. Whilst there is no title, it has been revealed that the album is executively produced by Metro Boomin.
Offset narrowly avoided joining the infamous 27 club, when he was involved in a car crash this May. Fortunately he walked away from the crash bloodied with a damaged left eye socket.
On a newly released track, which was taken down from (almost) all streaming platforms, ‘Red Room’, he talks briefly about the incident:
“I like to throw up when I think about the crash,
back when I hit the tree and smell the gas”.
The track finds him in contemplative and introspective mood, as he goes on to talk about the role his mother has played in his life.
“How I grew up, momma was my dad,
So when I blew up, I put her in the pad”.
This is an interesting side that we don’t normally see from the Migos’, although I’m sure their appearance on Carpool Karaoke showed us that they can be fun and playful. Now coupled with the changes in his personal life, with thanks to his marriage to Cardi B, plus the birth of their daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, I really look forward to hearing the talented rapper and songwriter that he is coming to the fore.
It’s great to hear him working with Metro Boomin again. Not only was he the producer for the Migos’ number 1 hit record ‘Bad and Boujee’ he was also behind the desk for Offset’s surprise joint album with 21 Savage Without Warning. Which was released just before Quavo’s joint album with Travis Scott Huncho Jackman.
In further news, Quavo has suggested that Culture III, will be coming out January 2019. Which follows with the release of the previous 2 albums, having coming out in January 2017 and January 2018 respectively.
